Filmfare Awards - Hits

One can (almost) never go wrong wearing a saree, it's naturally elegant and looks great on any body type. Cases in point: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Dia Mirza. Both Aishwarya and Preity opted for Manish Malhotra designs... the man can do subtle! (sort of). Aishwarya looked heavenly in a sparkly white saree while Preity wore red and looked radiant in it! Dia's was a lacy black Gaurav Gupta couture creation and she looked rather statuesque wearing it.

Sonakshi Sinha's chiffon gown in a lime green hue stood out and made a statement; the silver clutch worked nicely with it too. I loved Amrita Puri's look from head to toe! The retro hair and red lipstick look fabulous and her gown fit her impeccably!

Malaika Arora Khan wore a white and gold Monisha Jaisingh couture gown and looked lovely. She enhanced the gold details of the dress with some gold earrings and finished the look off with a dark gold clutch and nude Sergio Rossis. Prachi Desai pleasantly surprised me by donning this pale pink Neeta Lulla gown, it looked wonderful on her and I love her messy side-braid too.

Filmfare Awards - Misses

Another night, another awards event. Here are a few of the misses according to me, although in all fairness, some are only here because of some aspect of their look not working. I wish there was a proper red carpet here... instead, the celebrities are posing in a horrible grey parking lot space! Appalling, really.

First, let me get the
Manish Malhotra tragedies out of the way. Both Katrina Kaif & 90's actress Urmila Matondkar wore the designer's creations. OTT is the only phrase that springs to mind. Oh another one - eye sore.

Genelia D'Souza wore a blue Versace dress with black gladiator style heels but what killed the look was the bad makeup and hair, something sleeker was needed here! Neha Dhupia wore a silk navy dress and while I liked the concept of the look, the fabric of the dress bordered on looking tacky and the bouffant was kind of uneccesary.
