The Oscars - Warm Hues

Red was back in business at this year's Oscars!

Sandra Bullock pulled all stops in a gorgeous red taffeta gown by Vera Wang, she looks incredible.

Anne Hathaway looked breathtaking in a vintage Valentino gown, the soft hairdo, matte red lips, diamonds... they all combine to make her look absolutely stunning!

Jennifer Hudson's orange Atelier Versace gown was certainly bright. I have issues with her chest area.

Aishwarya Rai wore Armani Priv
é Fall 2010- the chocolate brown gown, bedazzled with pailletes looks better on the runway than in person though. I would've loved to see her in Elie Saab to be honest.

The Oscars - Monochrome

White/shimmery pale white was also prominent at this year's Oscars.

Michelle Williams personified the words 'poised' and 'elegant' in a column gown from Chanel Haute Couture, her pixie haircut went perfectly with the minimalistic look.

Nicole Kidman in a white, panelled Dior gown was a disappointment, especially after her fabulous turnout at this year's Grammys. The colour doesn't suit her already pale, porcelain skin and the hair isn't working either. Also, those red peeptoes are majorly distracting.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore a lame gown by Calvin Klein and added a brooch near her waist to add a twist. The poker straight hair works well with the style of the dress but Gwynnie looks her best in soft, romantic looks and this is far too 'futuristic'.

Celine Dion chose Armani Priv
é, from the F/F collection, it's age appropriate and works well.

Reese Witherspoon went for a simple Giorgio Armani column gown but changed up her hair by adding volume and a ponytail, it doesn't suit her entirely but I admire her for changing it up. Love the drop earrings.

The Oscars - Purples & Blues

Hilary Swank, Amy Adams and Marisa Tomei sported dark blue.

I'm not feeling Hilary's feathery Gucci gown, it's too much and the whole feather hem thing is so 2009.

Amy Adams' sparkly cap-sleeve gown by L'Wren Scott evoked old Hollywoo
d, especially with the hair but the emerald and diamonds were a bit of a turn off.

Marisa's dress was a vintage Charles James and it's not my favourite - the hemline is a little too much.

Natalie Portman wore a purple silk-chiffon Rodarte dress with an off-shoulder neckline. This particular shade of purple (more like plum) does wonders for pregnant celebrities! Jessica Alba wore a beautiful Marchesa gown to the Oscars in 2008 in a similar hue. I'm loving those swingy earrings from Tiffany & Co.

Scarlett Johansson wore a lacy Dolce & Gabbana dress with high neck and a drop down back (not pictured) - it's just too much lace for me.

The Oscars - Pastels Trend

Pastels and light shades were in abundance, yet again.

Florence Welch wore Valentino Haute Couture, the colour does nothing for her! It's a total washout.

Mandy Moore kept it simple and pretty in a sparkly, tulle Monique Lhuillier gown. I love her makeup and hair.

Lilac was seen on both Mila Kunis & Cate Blanchett and both did justice to their respective gowns!

Mila wore Elie Saab (it's similar to the red lace dress that Halle Berry wore a couple of days ago), it's soft and feminine and suits Mila.

Cate looked queenly in a Givenchy number - it's edgy yet feminine and the pleats and beading add bonus points.

Halle Berry wore a gorgeous confection by Marchesa, I love the frothy bottom part! The nudey colour looks beautiful against her skin tone.

Independent Spirit Awards

The Independent Spirit Awards (Indies for short) took place on Saturday night and the stars turned up in their best "cool" togs. The Indies are traditionally very laid back and fun and the celebrities kept that in mind while dressing for the occassion.

Nicole Kidman wore a strawberry-red L'Wren Scott lace sheath with pointed pink kitten heels from Charlotte Olympia. She's playing with two trends here, red & pink and pointy pumps (they're totally in, according to Vogue), she looks nice but what's with the weird hands?

I looked at Natalie Portman and went "Awww!". The expectant actress looked absolutely gorgeous, and radiant in a Givenchy number with nude Stella McCartney heels - it's got a free-spirit thing going on, totally appropriate for the Indies.

Michelle Trachtenberg looked very sophisticated in a cream, wrap-dress by Pamela Rolland - cream/white dresses were popular at the Indies this year.

Mia Wasikowska (from Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland") wore a Rodarte dress with cutouts and Nicholas Kirkwood heels - it's a bit of a washout, some colour was needed! She should have gone for something like these
(Nicholas Kirkwoods) instead.

Eva Mendes wore a printed Chanel Resort dress with some cool aqua coloured Pierre Hardy heels and tons of pizzazz! Her confident pose and attitude alone sells this look.

Rosario Dawson went for an animal-print Burberry dress with slate grey Brian Atwoods. I'm not loving this dress much, the ruffles seem heavy somehow.

Both Zoe Saldana and Kerry Washington wore Dolce & Gabbana. The label is coming out with a lot of floral print and lacey stuff and these designs showcase that. I personally think it looks too busy but Zoe's slender frame makes the look work, she added some bright red Brian Atwoods to the mix.

Kerry's black, floral top & skirt were too loud for me, add to that the animal-print clutch, blunt bangs and red shoes - it's an overload!

Kate Walsh wore a cream, one-shoulder Max Mara number with pointy nude heels - kind of boring.

Vera Farmiga wore a printed red wrap dress with brown accessories in the form of the necklace, belt and shoes - it's very Indies style.

Fashion Roundup

Emmy Rossum attended a pre-Oscar party in a blue patterned halter dress by Dior, I like how the shoes and the pattern on the dress compliment one another.

Jenna Dewan was at a Vanity Fair party in a black strapless dress that she wore with bold accessories and animal-print heels.

Amy Adams looked pretty darn fabulous at two parties, first in a sand coloured Roland Mouret sheath and then in a navy Stella McCartney dress. Amy doesn't exactly take risks, fashion-wise but she always knows what looks good on her and sticks to it.

Malin Akerman was at the Vanity Fair party in a fresh boatneck dress which she wore with a thin yellow belt and opaque tights.

Kirsten Dunst wore a grey, pleated lame dress with tights, the look itself isn't so bad but the eyes I have an issue with - raccoon eyes much?

Jessica Szohr attended a fashion event wearing a dreadful shirt! That print is so 90's.

Isabel Lucas too was at the Vanity Fair event in a rose pink dress which she wore with black flats - it's quite classic and works.

Amber Heard was at the premiere of her movie, "Drive Angry" in a sequined strapless dress by Donna Karan - it looks beautiful on her and I like how she balanced the 'sexiness' of the dress with a longer hemline.

Hilary Duff turned up at the Global Action Awards in a strapless printed gown - I don't quite know what to make of this look as it doesn't really work at all, the print isn't attractive and the bird-feather earrings don't work either.

Milla Jovovich worked a red Temperely London dress with a gold choker and stark black heels - nice!

Lauren Conrad was at the launch of her Paper Crown line in a gorgeous tan semi-casual look - I like every single thing about it!

Diane Kruger was on the red carpet once again in Berlin in a Grecian-inspired Vionnet gown, it's lovely but doesn't exactly fit her in the bust, a better fit was in order. She wore a black and gold dress next, and I have to say, it's not good. It's extremely ill fitting!

Oscars Weekend!

The weekend is heeeere. Numerous parties went down on Friday to kick-off the Oscars.

Natalie Portman wore a simple loose-fitting white dress by H&M (!) with lacy sleeves at an event with gold heels, pretty!

Her "Black Swan" co-star, Mila Kunis wore a simple red Valentino number with a textured black jacket, and matching coffee-coloured heels (Brian Atwoods) and clutch. I love the colour combination going on here.

Kerry Washington was at a luncheon and wore a printed cream cocktail dress by Vivienne Westwood with matching pale heels by the label, very sophisticated.

Amy Adams, vying for a Best Supporting Actress gong wore a jacquard Carolina Herrera dress with black peeptoes and looked so beautiful!

Elizabeth Banks, seen at the opening of Tom Ford's store rocked a cutout black dress by Versace with some turqouise ankle-strap heels.

Michelle Williams wore a bright fuschia design by Louis Vuitton at a party, it's ridiculously cute but maintains a risky touch, with the cutout below the neckline.

Art of Elysium Benefit

Ginnifer Goodwin dressed up in a cute ruffled LBD by Dior which she wore with wine coloured heels for the Art of Elysium auction in Hollywood.

Anna Kendrick attended the event wearing a soft J Mendel dress with a biker jacket and simple black heels.

Jayma Mays looked lovely in a black and gold Ronald Abdala dress in a very classic silhouette.

Olivia Palermo at LFW

This past week, NYC socialite and reality TV starlet, Olivia Palermo was seen out and about in London for LFW. Here are a few of her fabulous looks - I literally have no criticism! And I must say, she dithered a little during NYFW but she upped her game once again in London.

My favourite outfit has to be the one in the middle, the all camel coloured look. Those leopard print Charlotte Olympia booties add a pop and I'm lovin' that Herm
és Birkin!

Celebrating Costume Designers

Costume designers have a such a big contribution towards the movies that we watch! The first impressions are always made by appearance and the designers have a big contribution in helping create 'looks' for characters. The Costume Designers Guild Awards took place in LA last night and here are the famous few attendees.

Kristin Davis looked very pretty in a monochromatic polka dot gown by Oscar
de la Renta - it suits her style perfectly!

Halle Berry turned heads in a stunning red lace dress by Elie Saab - she should have worn something like this at the Golden Globes!

Demi Moore wore an electric blue ruched column gown with a fishtail braid and drop diamond earrings, I'm skeptical about the ruching near the leg but all in all, this look is a winner. The colour looks gorgeous on her and once again she defies nature by looking like this at forty-freaking-eight.

Claire Danes wore a grey Lanvin dress with embellishments - it's really dull and I'm not particularly liking the slicked back hair.

Getting Tired of Going With It?

Aren't these people getting tired of premiering? Apparently not. So here are Jennifer Aniston, Adam Sandler and Brooklyn Decker in Spain, first at a photocall and later at the official premiere.

Jennifer wore high waisted trousers with a black vest and gold accessories, but the biggest news - the hair! It's shorter! And looks gooooood.

Brooklyn wore a gorgeous knit-type dress in one of my favourite 'cosy' colours: tan. The bright blue Louboutins are a little jarring but at least she's playing with colour!

At the premiere, Jen wore a short dress with full sleeves and a v-neck. She once again wore gold accessories and added nude sandals to the look - meh.

Brooklyn wore a wonderful, strapless printed Dolce & Gabbana number with red heels and red lips! Love her side-braid too.

Front Row At Burberry

Fashionistas Kate Bosworth & Rachel Bilson were in London for the Burberry show at London Fashion Week (LFW).

Rachel attended the show wearing a knee-length tweed dress with a keyhole neck. I'm not liking the military-inspired shoes with the dress, on a casual ensemble, they would have been perfect. She looks a uncomfortably cold too, despite wearing a coat! I
guess she hasn't quite been able to adjust to the colder climes of the UK, what with being used to to the everpresent sunshine and warmth of LA.

Kate Bosworth wore a camel coloured ensemble, I'm loving the crazy studded skirt but I would've preferred to see it with a white blouse, instead of the jacket.

Ugly No More

A radiant America Ferrera & a beautiful Rebecca Romjin were spotted at the Global Action Awards in LA.

America wore a fitted black dress with interesting sleeves and rocked a new haircut! Possibly for her upcoming role on one of my favourite shows, "The Good Wife".

Rebecca wore a navy coloured, draped jersey dress with snakeskin printed kitten heels - she looks great!

Berlin Calling Part Two

Jennifer Aniston & Brooklyn Decker walked the red carpet for the German premiere of "Just Go With It" in Berlin.

Jen wore a black dress by Nina Ricci with a pouffy shoulder detail - it's a little too girly-girly for me, I would have loved to see something like
this, an Oscar de la Renta, it fits in with Jen's simple taste perfectly but is more appropriate.

Brooklyn wore a purple jumpsuit with a slit on the leg by Max Mara, with orange shoes by the label too. I'm not impressed - the shoes are a downer and the jumpsuit just doesn't fit Brooklyn well, a bra would have helped too.

Berlin Calling

Brooklyn Decker & Jennifer Aniston were at a German photocall of their romcom "Just Go With It".

Brooklyn wore an embellished white dress with a black biker jacket. I like how she has attempted to combine femininity with edginess but I don't like the shape of the dress or the design in particular. Another thing, those suede boots looks awful with the outfit!

Jennifer Aniston stuck to her trusty black and gold jewelery combination - snooooze but it is Jennifer Aniston, what else can be expected?

Diane Kruger took to the red carpet at the Berlin Film Festival in a rich purple Chanel dress. I'm in love with the colour but I wish that the hemline wasn't asymmetrical. I also have an issue with a belt type thing at the bust, it isn't very flattering and Diane only manages to carry it off because of her slim figure.

Fashion Roundup

Gossip Girl co-stars Kelly Rutherford and Blake Lively were seen at the Van Cleef & Arpels opening gala in NYC.

Kelly wore an elegant silk (YSL?) dress in navy with some gorgeous jewels.

Blake wore a fringed, beaded dress by Marchesa with pale Louboutins - needless to say, LOVE.

The always ethereal looking Cate Blanchett also made an appearance at the Van Cleef & Arpels gala in a structured, regal looking black Balenciaga gown.

Emma Watson wore a navy Chanel number at a Bafta party - I think the dress is a little unflattering and I'm not a fan of the buttons.

Olivia Munn was at a NYFW party in a floral dress which she topped with a sharp black jacket - I like how the low neckline of the dress balances with the otherwise covered up look.

Alexa Chung wore a Yves Saint Laurent ensemble, she does look good in it though I'm not a fan of the dress personally.

Isla Fisher wore a strapless aqua Temperely London dress at the "Rango" premiere - it's way to eighties and too teeny-bopper. Isla, wear something your age! Those shoes are unflattering too.

Rihanna wore a Jean Paul Gautier again, the bright colours are too jarring for me so this one gets a thumbs down.

Jessica Alba wore a Prada dress with a black cardi - it's a relaxed and normal looking ensemble.

Cheryl Cole wore a traffic light red Alexander McQueen gown that fit her well, Cheryl always looks good in red.

Kate Bosworth wore a tangerine shift, in the form of Calvin Klein, at the Calvin Klein show. It's screams Calvin Klein and I like Calvin Klein and minimalism.

Rumer Willis was at the Badgley Mischka show wearing this pale green dress with bright red heels - the dress has no shape and hangs of her, and the shoes don't work with it.

Emma Roberts was seen at two events at NYFW, both times in Michael Kors. I love the pleated blue dress and the even though the second one isn't exactly ground-breaking, she still looks good! Emma's becoming quite the style starlet.

Diane Kruger wore a flutter-sleeve Prada dress in a gorgeous colour with teal Prada platforms at an "Unknown" event, while January Jones was seen in a lime-green number that's a lot better than her previous outing.

Unknown Premiere

Diane Kruger & January Jones were seen at the red carpet for the premiere of Diane's new thriller "Unknown".

Diane wore an embellished white frock by Dolce & Gabbana (that was very short!) with Brian Atwoods - love that she kept things very simple, as the embellishment on the dress makes a statement anyway.

January Jones wore a navy and gold dress by Alexander McQueen - January doesn't do justice to the dress and her hair and make up are very off.

Fashion Week Faces

Spotted: The lovely Emma Roberts & Leighton Meester, at NYFW.

Emma was at the Jenny Packham show, in a sheer floral blouse tucked into wide legged light pants - it's perfectly elegant while maintaining a youthful touch.

Leighton Meester was at the Marc Jacobs show in a dress from the collection, which she wore with some strappy red Louboutins. It's all retro an
d whacky but Leighton just about pulls it off - purely because she's Leighton!

Floaty Frocks

Floaty dresses look very feminine, are comfy and not to mention, great when you end up eating a lot and need room to breathe.

Jessica Biel wore a sheer navy dress with a barely there snakeskin print, along with tights and booties. It's not my favourite but even so, it would have looked better had she left the tights and boots out, some colourful peeptoes would have looked better.

Emily Blunt wore an Elie Saab confection in a blush peach colour. I don't like this look on her, the colour blends in with her skin colour and overall, it's just way too busy. The full sleeves were unecessary too.

Nicole Richie wore a black & white printed dress with geometrical gold necklaces and added tights and Louboutins to the mix - it's trademark Nicole Richie and it works well on her.

Elle Style Awards

Spotted: Emma Watson & Blake Lively in London for the Elle Style Awards where both received an award.

Emma wore a pale lilac dress by Hakaan with nude pointy pumps. I do admire Emma for her bold haircut but I'm beginning to miss her lovely long locks! The pretty factor would have increased with long hair.
Blake Lively wore a layered, flowy dress in royal blue from Pucci with gold detail - she looks gorgeous! I love the combination of the lavender peeptoes and the blue from the dress.
