Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in The Row - 2012 CFDA Awards

Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen had a big night on Monday.

The sister-designers won the award for Best Womenswear Designer of the Year (for The Row), beating Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler.

Ashley wore a gorgeous, purple satin dress with a ruffle front from The Row Resort 2013 collection. She wore her hair back in a bun and finished off the look with Sidney Garber jewelery, a bag from The Row & her favourite Manolo Blahniks.

Mary-Kate debuted a darker hair colour in a loose black blouse and wrap silk skirt from The Row Resort 2013 collection.  Bronzed make-up, kohl-rimmed eyes, a The Row bag and Louis Vuitton heels completed her look.

Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen in The Row - The Fresh Air Funds Salute To American Heroes

The Olsen sisters attended the The Fresh Air Funds Salute To American Heroes benefit in NYC on Thursday night.

Ashley was clad in a cream dress from The Row Spring 2012 collection; she looked great in the halter dress with textured detail and I love that she wore it with fresh, light make-up.  An updo and tan Manolo Blahnik kitten heels were the finishing touches.

Mary-Kate brought the Yin to Ashley's Yang in black silk separates from her label The Row.  I'm glad she added colour via the fine jewelery, a bag by The Row and Fendi sandals.

Mary-Kate Olsen in The Row - 2012 Met Ball

Mary-Kate Olsen wore a custom dress by The Row at the 2012 Met Ball.

The black satin dress with a high-neck, three-quarter sleeves and a silver tassel detail was dramatic - something we've come to expect from the Olsens.

Wind-swept hair and warm make-up added impact to her look.

It was strange to see MK without Ashley though, I have to say.

Fashion Roundup

Starting the post with Jennifer Aniston's summery Prada dress! I adore this look on her, from head to toe and it certainly helps that she's absolutely radiant.

Hilary Swank is back in this week's Fashion Roundup, and in good books, thanks to the Hugo Boss mini, my only pick is the black slip showing up.

Dita Von Teese was in Paris for a couture show, in an Alexis Mabille gown that was previously seen on Leighton Meester in the finale of Season 4 of "Gossip Girl". This gown was an instant favourite with me, when I saw it on the television show - it's perfectly intricate, feminine and has a regal feel to it almost.

Rosario Dawson wore Roberto Cavalli for the premiere of "Zookeeper". It's shimmery, has an animal-print - perfect for the premiere!

Rose Byrne had a go at the jumpsuit trend, but this floral monstrosity is just that, a monstrosity. The light pink blazer is trying to salvage the look but it's just beyond repair.

Katie Holmes continued her stylish run in Paris, this time in a casual look. The pussy-bow blouse is somewhat becoming a regular (see this & this) with her, but no complains, she looks great.

Selena Gomez's outfit for a Disney event nearly worked, the sequined shirt and jeans are cute but then came in the warpaint on her face and those heavy suede boots...

Ashley Olsen was spotted in NYC in this chic outfit. I love the combination of the crisp white shirt with the textured navy skirt, and of course that handbag; however, it's just wrong on her and makes her look older than she is. So, great ensemble on the wrong person.

CFDA Fashion Awards 2011

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Awards took place in NYC last night, with Prabal Gurung receiving the Best New Designer of the year recognition.

Naturally, the celebs went with American designers for the event and most of them seemed to prefer short cocktail dresses instead of full-length gowns which is more appropriate seeing the warm weather.

Kerry Washington & Naomi Watts both wore Calvin Klein.

Kerry wore a white shift dress with a textured bottom while Naomi went with a lamé gold dress (which needed some sort of belt in my opinion). Keeping with the aesthetics of the label, both kept their looks very minimal.

Alessandra Ambrosio wore a vermillion gown by Prabal Gurung, with matching lips and a bold statement neck cuff. It's a bold look for sure but I think she could have passed on the red lips in this instance.

Model Chanel Iman wore a billowy aqua creation, with gold sandals. I think the dress swamps her slim figure and the hair is a little too messy, not the perfect bed head.

Liv Tyler chose a colourful, belted Proenza Schouler number but the shoes and purse ruined the look.

Chloe Sevigny wore a leather top and lacey white skirt from her own line, Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony but again, those chunky heels let down her look (not that it was brilliant to begin with, mind you).

Both Miranda Kerr & Ashley Greene donned Michael Kors dresses for the night.

Miranda wore a cutout black, leg-baring gown, with gold cuffs on both wrists; she looked statuesque like always.

While Ashley Greene went with a neon pink
and black mini, but those strappy heels make her feet look unecessarily chunky.

A radiant Jessica Alba wore a two-tone maxi dress by Diane von Furstenberg with gold hoop earrings. I think the slicked back hair style is a little severe but other than that, this look is spot on from the pregnant actress.

Lucy Liu's feathery Monique Lhuillier gown was my least favourite ensemble of the night; it felt uninspired, dated and out of place. And surely she must be boiling under all that material!

After a run with frothy Chanel creations on the red carpet, Kirsten Dunst wore a tux by designer Patrick Ervell with hoop earrings and red lips. I think Kirsten just about pulls it off.

The Olsen twins turned up in their usual attire of mix and match separates.

Mary-Kate wore a skirt by her own label, The Row and topped it with a metallic Chanel jacket. She carried a bag from her new line.

Ashley went with a pale blue dress from The Row and finished the look off with satin yellow Manholo Blahniks and an apricot coloured purse, similar to sister Mary-Kate's.

At the Met Ball!

Kirsten Dunst brought her usual kooky (in this case, kind of ugly) in this Chanel frock. It's just not pretty. Neither are those pointy rosette shoes.

Freida Pinto attempted an androgynous look in this silk Chanel gown. It's not particularly Freida's style but she looks good, the red lipstick adds a little something to the entire look.

Kerry Washington stood out in a powder blue Escada gown with cut outs. It looks great on her!

Amy Adams tried a silent-film era look in this L'Wren Scott number. The print is isn't the prettiest and the make up didn't quite work for her, but kudos to her for trying out a different look.

Demi Moore and Ciara both wore Prabal Gurung. Both the dresses had feathered trains (which I'm personally not a fan of) but out of the two, I'm leaning more towards Ciara's icy hued gown.

Elizabeth Banks wore a glitzy golden Tommy Hilfiger gown, with sideswept hair and red lips, nice!

Naomi Watts too wore Stella McCartney, it looks good on her and I like the subtle, sheer part near the bottom of the dress.

Lucy Liu's feathered Vionnet dress was also not a favourite of mine, the feathers' placements are off putting.

Penelope Cruz looked gorgeous in a long trained Oscar de la Renta dress with soft wavy hair and diamonds.
Liv Tyler wore a piece from the lovely Givenchy Couture collection. The swan-inspired dress with a pale neon yellow feathers worked perfectly on her!

Mary Kate Olsen also wore Givenchy. The red and green dress fit in with her boho style but I wish MK would get out of this boho phase already!

At The Met Ball!

Michelle Williams wore a Miu Miu dress with a boat-neck and cap sleeves, very trademark Michelle. But the combination of black and gold here seems a little tacky, even though Michelle looks lovely.

Nicole Richie wore a vintage white gown, styled with Winter Kate accessories. Not sure why she was drawn to this gown, frankly, there's nothing great about it!
Kristen Stewart wore a Proenza Schouler column gown that had a black and red design. I'm glad she wore a bit of colour but the gown is a little creased and does nothing for her figure. On the plus side, her face looks great!

Ashley Greene wore a princess-style ball gown from Donna Karan that had a very Zuhair Murad feel to it! But she looks good nonetheless.

Dakota Fanning wore her go to label, Valentino. The gauzy, floral affair has a soft, youthful touch to it and looks age appropriate on Dakota.

Emma Stone disappointed in a very floral Lanvin dress. The print is just so dated and gaudy and the pink lipstick is a little jarring. Emma can do better than this!

Emma Roberts was another star dressed in Michael Kors. The white gown, with a cutout looks sophisticated and I like the old Hollywood hair she has going.

Rashida Jones wore Stella McCartney! The strapless silk gown's deep purple looks rich against her skintone and I love her old-Hollywood head piece!

Ashley Olsen wore a vintage Christian Dior gown with added sleeves to give it a dramatic effect, it sure worked and I prefer her ensemble to twin sister, Mary Kate's.

Taylor Swift stuck to her romantic style, in a J Mendel gown; she tried something different with the almost gothic make up.

At the Opera

Spotted: Various celebrities at the Metropolitan Opera opening of the play "Le Comte Ory", sponsored by Yves Saint Laurent.

Actress Rebecca Hall stood out in a sea of black in a striking full sleeved gown by YSL in an orangey-red hue.

Former supermodel Claudia Schiffer sashayed in wearing a beautiful black gown with a high neck.

Claire Danes kept things simple in a one-shoulder black gown with a split by YSL.

While Emmy Rossum decided to go for colourful drama in an emerald green silk-chiffon gown by YSL which she paired with bright purple heels. My only pick is the loud make up, the dress and shoes are giving so much colour that the red lipstick was not necessary.

Olivia Munn went for high drama too, in a strapless velvet YSL gown which she wore with gloves - love how she's having fun with an otherwise boring concept of a black gown.

The Olsen twins stuck to their kooky style. Ashley Olsen wore a pencil sheath with a jade fur stole while Mary-Kate wore a sheer black gown, topping it with an oversize coat.
