Chloe Sevigny in Miu Miu - 2012 Met Ball

Chloe Sevigny brought her brand of originality to the red carpet as always.

She wore a Miu Miu dress that was made out of circles and squares of fabrics, all strung together and embellished with mirrors and beads.

If anyone can make a dress like this work on the red carpet, it's Chloe.  She carried a pink clutch and wore sparkly Miu Miu heels.

Chloe Sevigny in Opening Ceremony - HBO's 'Girls' Premiere

Chloe Sevigny, was in attendance at the premiere of 'Girls'.

She wore a busy, printed Opening Ceremony dress.  The long-sleeved silk mini also featured an embroidered collar which I'm crazy about.

Chloe added some sparkle via the gold earrings; her accessories consisted of a Proenza Schouler clutch & Opening Ceremony boots (which I, unfortunately disapprove of).

Chloe Sevigny in Opening Ceremony - 'Damsels in Distress' Screening

Chloe Sevigny worked it in front of the cameras at the NYC screening of 'Damsels in Distress'.

She wore a colourful Opening Ceremony frock that had a vivid, printed top and a pleated skirt.

As usual, Chloe toughened up the look with her accessories.

CFDA Fashion Awards 2011

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Awards took place in NYC last night, with Prabal Gurung receiving the Best New Designer of the year recognition.

Naturally, the celebs went with American designers for the event and most of them seemed to prefer short cocktail dresses instead of full-length gowns which is more appropriate seeing the warm weather.

Kerry Washington & Naomi Watts both wore Calvin Klein.

Kerry wore a white shift dress with a textured bottom while Naomi went with a lamé gold dress (which needed some sort of belt in my opinion). Keeping with the aesthetics of the label, both kept their looks very minimal.

Alessandra Ambrosio wore a vermillion gown by Prabal Gurung, with matching lips and a bold statement neck cuff. It's a bold look for sure but I think she could have passed on the red lips in this instance.

Model Chanel Iman wore a billowy aqua creation, with gold sandals. I think the dress swamps her slim figure and the hair is a little too messy, not the perfect bed head.

Liv Tyler chose a colourful, belted Proenza Schouler number but the shoes and purse ruined the look.

Chloe Sevigny wore a leather top and lacey white skirt from her own line, Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony but again, those chunky heels let down her look (not that it was brilliant to begin with, mind you).

Both Miranda Kerr & Ashley Greene donned Michael Kors dresses for the night.

Miranda wore a cutout black, leg-baring gown, with gold cuffs on both wrists; she looked statuesque like always.

While Ashley Greene went with a neon pink
and black mini, but those strappy heels make her feet look unecessarily chunky.

A radiant Jessica Alba wore a two-tone maxi dress by Diane von Furstenberg with gold hoop earrings. I think the slicked back hair style is a little severe but other than that, this look is spot on from the pregnant actress.

Lucy Liu's feathery Monique Lhuillier gown was my least favourite ensemble of the night; it felt uninspired, dated and out of place. And surely she must be boiling under all that material!

After a run with frothy Chanel creations on the red carpet, Kirsten Dunst wore a tux by designer Patrick Ervell with hoop earrings and red lips. I think Kirsten just about pulls it off.

The Olsen twins turned up in their usual attire of mix and match separates.

Mary-Kate wore a skirt by her own label, The Row and topped it with a metallic Chanel jacket. She carried a bag from her new line.

Ashley went with a pale blue dress from The Row and finished the look off with satin yellow Manholo Blahniks and an apricot coloured purse, similar to sister Mary-Kate's.

At The Met Ball!

*Click on the images for a clearer look.

Zoe Saldana stayed true to Calvin Klein in this refreshing citrus sha
ded column gown. It's colourful, and lively and the statement gold necklace looks perfect with it.

Claire Danes also wore Calvin Klein, in the form of this metallic gown with a v-neck. It's minimal but I wish she'd worn something to add a bit of interest to this look.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore her usual red-carpet uniform of a neutral, no-fuss dress. This time it's by Stella McCartney. I wish she would play around with other colours and get out of this nude dress obssession!

A pregnant and glowing Kate Hudson also wore Stella McCartney. The champagne silk gown has richness but the fitting hasn't been done well to accommodate her body and the headband seems like an afterthought.

Jessica Alba looked wonderful in a golden Ralph Lauren gown. She looks beautiful! Flawless.

Kristen Bell's lame Tory Burch gown was a little boring, it didn't have much going on and felt too simple for the occassion.

Christina Ricci's Zac Posen gown had drama, and lots of it! This is a love/hate look and unfortunately, I fall on the hate side.

Chloe Sevigny also disappointed in an ill-fitted Alexander McQueen dress. It does nothing in terms of colour, style or design.
Maggie Gyllenhaal also wore Stella McCartney; I loved this glitzy midnight blue number on her.

Rihanna also wore Stella McCartney, but the hair killed this look for me!

Go International

Olivia Munn, Chloe Sevigny and Liv Tyler were at the launch of Target's Go International Designer Collective Launch in NYC. The overall theme was slightly casual yet trendy.

Olivia Munn wore a polka dot, peter-pan collar dress and it's cute but I'm not crazy about those grey tights, worn with her YSL pumps.

Chloe Sevigny wore an animal-print number with a bow collar, and added a black blazer and suspender tights to the look. I think that without the tights (plain opaque ones would have been a better choice) and the severe, slicked back hair, this look could have worked.

Liv Tyler looked great in a maroon dress, topped with a leather jacket. I like those chunky boots too.

Fashion Roundup

Malin Akerman was seen at the Golden Globes After Party, wearing a sleek red Tommy Hilfiger design, Natalie Portman wore an electric blue Michael Kors dress with black pumps and matching purse and Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted at an event in Switzerland wearing a light pink Azzadine Alaia knee-skimming dress with cute pink peeptoes from Pierre Hardy.
Hayden Panettiere's navy blue Amanda Wakely gown with a plunging neckline was a grown up look for her but I don't think she quite pulled it off. Rumer Willis looked good in a cream coloured Badgley Mischka gown, I liked the delicate necklace she wore too. Olivia Munn attended a photo exhibit wearing a dark blue chiffon mini dress by Mason, she made the look her own by adding a thick belt to cinch at the waist and suede Elizabeth and James open-toe booties.
Model Bar Rafaeli looked polished in a ruched black top with wide legged black trousers at the Berlin Fashion week. Kourtney Kardashian looked cute in a high waisted pale skirt which she wore with a printed Myne blouse and finished off with black ankle boots. Chloe Sevigny was also seen at the Hugo Boss show in Berlin, wearing shorts and a blazer, I love the lilac floral pin she added to make the look stand out.

More Premieres

Even more premieres! The TV show "Big Love" had its Season 2 premiere in Hollywood. Spotted: Ginnifer Goodwin & Chloe Sevigny. Chloe wore an edgy Rodarte dress with cutouts - not a fan at all (maybe if the cutout on her stomach wasn't there it would have looked better), and the strappy red Louboutins do not work with the dress. Also, Chloe's hair doesn't look good. Ginnifer looked lovely in a cute pink Valentino dress with nude Brian Atwoods. Zoe Saldana was seen at the premiere of her film, "Burning Palms" in Yves Saint Laurent - the skirt gets a big no from me though.

Even More New Year's Style

Getting tired? ;) A few more to add to the new year's style posts though... Jennifer Lopez looking great in a sparkly, silver ombré Herve Leger with silver peeptoes (hate that pout though!), Kirsten Dunst looked sweet in a plain white collar dress and simple black pumps; her look was just that - simple. Chloe Sevigny wore a ruffle sleeved plaid dress with black ankle boots, it was a great casual look but totally boring for a new year's bash! Whitney Port brought the glamour back in a very Prabal Gurung esque sea green mini which she paired with a gold statement necklace & put her hair in a high bun - how Carrie Bradshaw-like of her! Love the look.

Chanel's Night Out

The Museum of Contemporary Arts' (MOCA) Annual Gala took place in LA and brought out all the major fashionistas of la-la-land! All were decked out in their finest Chanel togs, as the label sponsored the event. My favourite of the bunch would have to be: Kirsten Dunst (she looked so good after such a long time!), Rachel Bilson, who stood out in the sea of white choices (and whose choice of footwear really sold it to me, so fierce!) and Malin Ackerman, the white looked great against her California tan. If I had to be picky, I'd say that Rachel should have put her hair in a chic updo, it's a little boring. The rest, Mila Kunis, Kate Bosworth, Chloe Sevigny and Ginnifer Goodwin also looked good... but really, there's not much criticism to make here, it's Chanel after all.

*Correction: Malin Ackerman's wearing a Ralph Lauren dress, not a Chanel
