Carey Mulligan in Prada - 2012 Met Ball

Carey Mulligan, who co-chaired this year's Costume Institute Gala, wore a custom Prada dress.

The gold and silver paillette dress was almost other-worldly and dripping with opulence.

She wore it confidently, with a quiff hairstyle, smoky eyes, nude lips and ivory satin Prada pumps.

Carey Mulligan In Roland Mouret - 2012 London Critics' Circle Film Awards

Carey Mulligan walked the red carpet at the London Critics' Circle Film Awards in the capital in a Roland Mouret Spring 2012 dress.

The delicate red tea-length dress with cap sleeves, a portrait neckline & black accents was perfect on Carey because of its lady-like, vintage feel.

She wore it with slick hair, diamond earrings and the fabulous, electric blue
YSL 'Palais' pump.

Fashion Roundup

Paula Patton made two appearances this week.

She wore a navy blue, zip-front mini to the premiere of 'Joyful Noise' with colourful, printed heels (which don't really go with the dress but at least she tried).

Later, at a party, Paula wore a skintight leather mini with a scoop-neck & lace rimmed hemline.  She looks like she's trying too hard here, and look comes off as tacky.

Carey Mulligan wore an ombre, tasseled dress from the Lanvin Resort 2012 line to the National Board of Review Awards Gala.  Love this dress on Carey, who wore it with matching mauve Sergio Rossi shoes.

Kerry Washington attended the Disney/ABC TCA event in a sparkly Jenny Packham Spring 2012 mini.  The gold sequined dress with cutout shoulders is lovely but the sleeves are hanging off her arms, which makes the look sloppy.

Carey Mulligan in Bottega Veneta - Hollywood Film Awards

Carey Mulligan was back on the red carpet after a long time.

She wore a sparkly, halter-neck Bottega Veneta frock from the Spring 2012 collection with black peeptoes & carried a studded black clutch.

Her make-up consisted of smoky eyes and a pale glossy lip colour.

I can't say this is a bad look, but she could have worn some interesting shoes instead of those peeptoes.

At Comic Con 2011

Spotted: Lots of young stars at the Comic Con 2011, held in San Diego, CA.

Amanda Seyfried, promoting her upcoming movie "In Time", with Justine Timberlake wore a flowy, silky Prabal Gurung dress with black accents and strappy Prada heels.

Carey Mulligan was also there, for her movie with Ryan Gosling, called "Drive". She wore a colour block Roksanda Illicinic midi dress with jewelled flats.

All around, colour and free-flowing materials were popular with these two actresses.

Kristen Stewart, Nikki Reed and Ashley Greene also made appearances for their movie, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" which will be out later this year.

K. Stew donned her favourite skinny pencil jeans and Converse and although I'm not complaining about this casual attire too much, the sheer t-shirt is annoying me. Good job her hair and make up are alright.

Nikki Reed & Ashley Greene exuded a more feminine style.

Nikki Reed is wearing a Dolce & Gabbana frock with loose waves and black Brian Atwoods.

Ashley Greene steered away from the predictable floral in her striped Yigal Azrouƫl number which she wore with nude Jimmy Choo heels - I definitely prefer this style over Nikki Reed's look.

The Social Network

The awards season has begun in full swing people, there's no escaping. Last night, a lot of my favourite actors were present at the Palm Springs Awards, sponsored by Cartier in Palm Springs, California. A lot of The Social Network stars were also present! (Love that movie.)
Natalie Portman, who received the Achievement Actress award & who's now fully sporting that pregnancy glow, wore a full-sleeved black and white dress with gold accents that covered her baby bump perfectly and tied her hair back into a chic bun. Carey Mulligan looked lovely in a metallic Prada dress with a full skirt and plain black YSL pumps. Amy Adams wore a teal coloured, one-shoulder cocktail dress with metallic heels too; I'm not liking the hairstyle one bit, it doesn't suit her and it's so dated!

*Update - Natalie Portman is wearing a Vionnet dress and Christian Dior heels.

Rashida Jones kept it simple in a printed blouse and black skirt, she wore black sandals and added colour through her red lipstick. Brenda Song wore a glitzy black mini with black Louboutins.

Here's a picture of The Social Network cast together backstage! L-R: Andrew Garfield, Brenda Song, Arnie Hammer, Rashida Jones, Josh Pence, Rooney Mara & Jesse Eisenberg

5. Carey Mulligan

British starlet Carey Mulligan shot to fame as Jenny Mallor in the 2009 coming-of-age drama
An Education, she got nominated in the Best Actress category at several award functions and the rest is history. She got her hair chopped off and has been sporting a cute pixie do ever since. Carey's on my list because of her bold and very different sense of style; you'd never find her wearing skin tight couture or showing off unecessary flesh - her clothes are always very classically designed and she comes off looking very elegant. From Prada to Lanvin, every designer house has longed to dress her up and not without reason! Favouring printed skirts and classic silhouettes, this style star is one to watch in 2011. My personal favourite is the Prada creation she wore to the Oscars in 2010, it's adorned with tiny forks & knives and looks fun and kooky!

Vogue Fashion Fund

The Upper-East Siders were out and about (along with Carey Mulligan, Alexa Chung and Christina Ricci) at the Vogue Fashion Fund event in New York City. Favourites: Alexa Chung and Carey Mulligan. Alexa wore a crisp white shirt with formal black shorts and a gorgeous gold statement necklace while Carey wore a burgundy hued Chanel (Fall/Winter 2010) sheath adorned with sequins and embroidery and have to say, she looks ever so pretty! Blake Lively disappointed the most, her Chanel knit and lace dress looked tacky due to the white bra showing through, her hair also looked kind of limp; Leighton Meester wore a Prabal Gurung dress and I liked the dress but the look was ruined because of the bad hair and chunky shoes. Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford didn't scrub up well at all and Christina Ricci's fringe is such an eye-sore! Her outfit isn't doing her any favours either.

The British Plate

British actresses, Sienna Miller, Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan did the Brits proud in their respective sartorial choices. It was great to see Keira Knightley back in action, and she certainly made waves, with her new haircut, a chic bob which she debuted at Paris Fashion Week earlier. I loved the way she paired two prints together, and those burgundy heels are yummy. Carey Mulligan also wore colour, in the form of a chartreuse knee-length frock with black lining. It was a no-fuss look but still stood out. Sienna Miller went all out glam at her event, wearing a gown from one of her signature designers, Matthew Williamson. I love the bright colour and the shoulder detail, but a minor quip would be the creases throughout the length of the gown.
