Natalie Portman in Christian Dior - The New York City Ballet Spring Gala

At The New York City Ballet Spring Gala, Natalie Portman wore a Christian Dior dress.

This navy blue dress with a tiers and a black ribbon neckline was beautiful on the 'Black Swan' actress.

She completed her look with an elegant updo, diamond studs and a Dior clutch.

Natalie Portman In Christian Dior - 2012 Oscars

Natalie Portman's vintage Christian Dior Couture gown was a breath of fresh air on the red carpet at this year's Oscars.

The strapless, red polka-dot design with a full skirt is perfectly whimsical but still elegant.
Natalie looked very pretty with her hair down, wore stunning Harry Winston jewels and carried a Charlotte Olympia clutch.

Natalie Portman In Giambattista Valli - 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards

Natalie Portman attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards in a Giambattista Valli Spring 2012 Couture gown.

The dark, strapless chiffon gown has an oversized rose on the bodice that adds interest to it.  I love how the colour of the gown looks with her brown eyes and hair.

Natalie wore gorgeous Harry Winston jewels to complete her look.

2012 Golden Globes - Purple/Pink

Jessica Alba wore a dress by Gucci.  The mauve coloured, strapless dress has silver embellishments and a train;  Jessica wore it with a bun, Bulgari jewels and a Roger Vivier bag.  That colour is divine against her tan.

Best Supporting Actress in a Movie (Drama) winner, Octavia Spencer radiated in a gorgeous lilac hued Tadashi Shoji dress.  As usual, the designer's dress is a winner for Octavia.  She carried a Judith Leiber clutch and wore Irene Neuwirth jewelery.

Tilda Swinton brought her swagger and personality on the red carpet in this Haider Ackermann ensemble.  The lavender colour is stunning and it's quite nice to see Tilda in such a feminine hue.  Her hair is just on another level.  Tilda is wearing Fred Leighton baubles.

Emma Stone stepped out in a Lanvin dress, but of course.  The gown basically consists of raspberry and plum coloured panels held together with a thick belt that has an eagle on it.  Emma was working it, with lashings of mascarra & eye-shadow, Lorraine Schwartz earrings & a Cartier clutch.

Natalie Portman was a vision in a hot pink Lanvin dress with touches of red.  She naturally, rocked the gown with a simple hairstyle & Harry Winston earrings and bracelets.

Julianna Margulies of 'The Good Wife' also wore a
Naeem Khan Spring 2012 gown.  The shimmery purple gown sits in the category of backless gowns at the event.  Julianne wore it with a neat ponytail and jade earrings.

The Oscars - Purples & Blues

Hilary Swank, Amy Adams and Marisa Tomei sported dark blue.

I'm not feeling Hilary's feathery Gucci gown, it's too much and the whole feather hem thing is so 2009.

Amy Adams' sparkly cap-sleeve gown by L'Wren Scott evoked old Hollywoo
d, especially with the hair but the emerald and diamonds were a bit of a turn off.

Marisa's dress was a vintage Charles James and it's not my favourite - the hemline is a little too much.

Natalie Portman wore a purple silk-chiffon Rodarte dress with an off-shoulder neckline. This particular shade of purple (more like plum) does wonders for pregnant celebrities! Jessica Alba wore a beautiful Marchesa gown to the Oscars in 2008 in a similar hue. I'm loving those swingy earrings from Tiffany & Co.

Scarlett Johansson wore a lacy Dolce & Gabbana dress with high neck and a drop down back (not pictured) - it's just too much lace for me.

Independent Spirit Awards

The Independent Spirit Awards (Indies for short) took place on Saturday night and the stars turned up in their best "cool" togs. The Indies are traditionally very laid back and fun and the celebrities kept that in mind while dressing for the occassion.

Nicole Kidman wore a strawberry-red L'Wren Scott lace sheath with pointed pink kitten heels from Charlotte Olympia. She's playing with two trends here, red & pink and pointy pumps (they're totally in, according to Vogue), she looks nice but what's with the weird hands?

I looked at Natalie Portman and went "Awww!". The expectant actress looked absolutely gorgeous, and radiant in a Givenchy number with nude Stella McCartney heels - it's got a free-spirit thing going on, totally appropriate for the Indies.

Michelle Trachtenberg looked very sophisticated in a cream, wrap-dress by Pamela Rolland - cream/white dresses were popular at the Indies this year.

Mia Wasikowska (from Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland") wore a Rodarte dress with cutouts and Nicholas Kirkwood heels - it's a bit of a washout, some colour was needed! She should have gone for something like these
(Nicholas Kirkwoods) instead.

Eva Mendes wore a printed Chanel Resort dress with some cool aqua coloured Pierre Hardy heels and tons of pizzazz! Her confident pose and attitude alone sells this look.

Rosario Dawson went for an animal-print Burberry dress with slate grey Brian Atwoods. I'm not loving this dress much, the ruffles seem heavy somehow.

Both Zoe Saldana and Kerry Washington wore Dolce & Gabbana. The label is coming out with a lot of floral print and lacey stuff and these designs showcase that. I personally think it looks too busy but Zoe's slender frame makes the look work, she added some bright red Brian Atwoods to the mix.

Kerry's black, floral top & skirt were too loud for me, add to that the animal-print clutch, blunt bangs and red shoes - it's an overload!

Kate Walsh wore a cream, one-shoulder Max Mara number with pointy nude heels - kind of boring.

Vera Farmiga wore a printed red wrap dress with brown accessories in the form of the necklace, belt and shoes - it's very Indies style.

Oscars Weekend!

The weekend is heeeere. Numerous parties went down on Friday to kick-off the Oscars.

Natalie Portman wore a simple loose-fitting white dress by H&M (!) with lacy sleeves at an event with gold heels, pretty!

Her "Black Swan" co-star, Mila Kunis wore a simple red Valentino number with a textured black jacket, and matching coffee-coloured heels (Brian Atwoods) and clutch. I love the colour combination going on here.

Kerry Washington was at a luncheon and wore a printed cream cocktail dress by Vivienne Westwood with matching pale heels by the label, very sophisticated.

Amy Adams, vying for a Best Supporting Actress gong wore a jacquard Carolina Herrera dress with black peeptoes and looked so beautiful!

Elizabeth Banks, seen at the opening of Tom Ford's store rocked a cutout black dress by Versace with some turqouise ankle-strap heels.

Michelle Williams wore a bright fuschia design by Louis Vuitton at a party, it's ridiculously cute but maintains a risky touch, with the cutout below the neckline.

Oscars Luncheon

The pre-Oscars luncheon saw a lot of good fashion!

Natalie Portman wore a silk shirt-dress in teal by Lanvin, with pink satin pumps by David Charles and a similar coloured Dior clutch.
Amy Adams, clad in a white Valentino dress looked ever so pretty! She finished off her look with golden Ferregamo heels and a chunky white bracelet.

Michelle Williams went for Chanel, wearing a black silk blouse tucked into a tweed skirt and wore simple black Sergio Rossis - very elegant. Nicole Kidman wore colour! I liked her in the printed silk-chiffon Yves Saint Laurent dress.

Fashion Roundup

Dianna Agron had a high and a low this week in fashion stakes. The outfit she wore for a promotional event for "I Am Number Four" was a little dowdy, I think it's those cowboy-esque boots that are ruining it, some sharp black heels would have elevated the look. She shut it down with her second look though! The swingy black frock, patent black heels and the House of Lavande statement pendant make for an incredibly elegant look.
Natalie Portman wore the Michael Kors asymmetrical hem gown with the gold accents at the Directors Guild Awards - it's similar to her look for the Critics Choice Awards but it works! Why fix something that's not broken?

Dita Von Teese looked great in a shimmery peach
dress by Jenny Packham- lovin' the 50's inspired look.
Claire Danes was also at the Directors Guild Awards, in a tight black Roland Mouret sheath - it was a little unexpected from her but she's working it.

Amy Adams perfected the nude trend with this soft chiffon dress, with saffron coloured peeptoes.
Also, how gorgeous does her hair look!

Maggie Gyllenhaal wore a kitschy wrap jacket over a black skirt - I like the jacket, just think that it would have looked better with simple denims.

Kate Walsh wore a bright red Anita Ko dress at her perfume launch - she looked great!

Screen Actors Guild Awards - The White Trend

The Screen Actors Guild Awards took place in Hollywood last night, and the glitterati of the movies were dressed up to the nines. *Click on the images for a clearer look

Here's one of the strong trends of the night, in terms of fashion. White and pale grey gowns were very popular.
Amy Adams wore a sleek Hervé Leroux gown in white - loved her entire look! Eva Longoria wore a pale eggshell coloured gown by Georges Hobeika, and despite the low cut neckline, she looked very elegant. Best Actress winner Natalie Portman wore a white Azzaro gown with reportedly $2 million worth of Tiffany & Co jewelery!

Naya Rivera of Glee wore a pale grey slinky gown by Aurelio Costarella, love the way she kept things minimal. Winona Ryder's Alberta Ferretti gown looked very bridal and I'm not a fan of the tacky looking black purse she's carrying. Better posing and a simple clutch would have done wonders for her look!

Fashion Roundup

Malin Akerman was seen at the Golden Globes After Party, wearing a sleek red Tommy Hilfiger design, Natalie Portman wore an electric blue Michael Kors dress with black pumps and matching purse and Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted at an event in Switzerland wearing a light pink Azzadine Alaia knee-skimming dress with cute pink peeptoes from Pierre Hardy.
Hayden Panettiere's navy blue Amanda Wakely gown with a plunging neckline was a grown up look for her but I don't think she quite pulled it off. Rumer Willis looked good in a cream coloured Badgley Mischka gown, I liked the delicate necklace she wore too. Olivia Munn attended a photo exhibit wearing a dark blue chiffon mini dress by Mason, she made the look her own by adding a thick belt to cinch at the waist and suede Elizabeth and James open-toe booties.
Model Bar Rafaeli looked polished in a ruched black top with wide legged black trousers at the Berlin Fashion week. Kourtney Kardashian looked cute in a high waisted pale skirt which she wore with a printed Myne blouse and finished off with black ankle boots. Chloe Sevigny was also seen at the Hugo Boss show in Berlin, wearing shorts and a blazer, I love the lilac floral pin she added to make the look stand out.

Golden Globes 2011 - The Dramatic Gowns

The much, much-awaited Golden Globes Awards took place last night in Hollywood. Here are my favourite "drama" gowns - ones that pack a visual punch within a second!

Olivia Wilde, how do I love your red carpet looks? There's no limit. She once again brought the glamour to the red carpet in a strapless, sparkly chocolate brown ombre ballgown, she left her hair down, to bring in some balance and add a modern touch to the princess-style of the
Marchesa gown.

Anne Hathaway knows how to wear her Armani Privé, and she knows it well. I loved her amber hued gown, covered in Swarovski crystals & pailletes. I also loved the dramatic back-drop!

Eva Longoria tried something different this year, by wearing a black Zac Posen gown with covered shoulders and a dramatic hem! Her petite figure really stands out in this design.

Angelina Jolie not wearing black/grey/white? That's a total lie! Actually... no. Angelina wore an emerald green gown by her recently go-to label, Atelier Versace. It's a similar look to Anne's, what with the crystals and sparkles but I'm just happy to see Angelina in something colourful.

Natalie Portman looked as sweet as a rose in her pink and red Viktor & Rolf gown. I love how feminine the gown looks, it suits her down to a T! Also lovin' her Tiffany & Co necklace, it adds dimension to the look. She was carrying a red Dior clutch and wearing Stella McCartney heels.

January Jones, of Mad Men went with Versace. No surprise there, seeing as she's modelled their designs for ad campaigns recently. Her dress was definitely risky but she made it work by managing to look classy, cool and composed. She wore black patent pumps by Versace.

Mila Kunis looked gorgeous in a deep green Vera Wang gown. What I like about this dress is how the material adds so much depth and dimension to the dramatic design, and the shade of the gown looks great against Mila's skintone.
